I help time-poor trailblazers share their best ideas and stories with the world.

Ready for

What if the copy you desperately need could be tackled at speed by a uniquely experienced professional who’s full of ideas and super-easy to work with?

(That’s me, btw)

Hi, I’m Katie

My superpower is the ability to translate the vision in someone’s head (or the notes on their laptop) into compelling, relatable copy they can’t wait to share.
I have a knack for uncovering the juicy details that make a message or story memorable, and I love helping people achieve their big goals.

Our conversations were what I looked forward to most. Katie helped me to tease out my ideas so I had complete clarity of thinking and then she managed to put words on the page that expressed that clarity in a way that I couldn’t.

I’m trying to think of more ways to keep working with her because honestly, she’s a rockstar. You won’t find anyone better.”

“I loved working with Katie. She’s a brilliant writer but what you may not know is that she’s an even more brilliant thinker.

Be done in days, not weeks

Elevate your copy

Fast-track your vision

Be done in days, not weeks • Elevate your copy • Fast-track your vision •

As a collaborative writer and editor, I’ve spent thousands of hours in the writing trenches with fascinating, talented people.

My writing and editing work appears in books published in the UK, the US, Australia, and beyond . . .

In fact, if you like memoirs or cookbooks, or if you enjoy reading about wellness, interior design, travel or even cults, you probably have a book I’ve worked on in your house.

If not, you may have read the work I’ve developed and written in glossy magazine articles, award-winning apps or some blockbuster online courses. My copywriting work has also been featured on food packaging, homewares, and in high-profile social campaigns and websites visited by millions of people each year.

“Katie was a dream to work with when writing our online educational courses and best-selling books.

She was able to nail the tone of voice we needed, and did her own research to add depth and dimension to the content. She welcomed any feedback and was never too precious about making tweaks along the way.

We couldn’t be more grateful for her input and would work with her again in a heartbeat.”

“The day flowed so seamlessly, and by the end of it my vision was brought to life!

I’ve worked with Katie on two major projects now: a published cookbook and an app – and I cannot recommend her enough. She is incredibly friendly, supportive and professional, and her creativeness and attention to detail played a major role in helping me achieve my dreams. Can’t wait for our next day.”

Need something different?

How does ‘Done in a Day’ work?

1

We chat

The first step is booking a (free) discovery call with me to talk through your project.

This is a quick, informal chat. There’s zero pressure to book a day with me, or buy any other product or service. You can book that call right here.

2

You book

If we both agree that this is a good fit, I’ll send you a link to book one of my available ‘Done in a Day’ slots, which you can secure with a 50% deposit.

Next, I’ll send you a short pre-work form to fill in so I can gather the material I need to prepare for your booking.

3

We plan

A few days before your booked day, we’ll hop on a strategy call to discuss your pre-work and project in more detail.

Together, we’ll identify your biggest priorities, share ideas and I’ll talk you through the plan for the day, so you know when I’m likely to need your feedback and input on the day.

4

I work

I’ll get to work on those top priorities so you get everything you need to move to the next phase of your goal.

On the day of your booking, I’ll be in touch with regular updates. If I’m writing for you, I’ll share those drafts with you and make your changes in real time.

5

Boom! Done

By 5 pm, the work you need will be polished and ready for you. From here, you’ll have 14 days of support from me.

This means I’ll be available to discuss any work completed on the day, answer questions about it, and bounce ideas with you for any next steps.

What’s included in one of these days?

✔ A pre-work form tailored to your specific tasks

✔ A 1-hour planning and strategy call prior to the day

✔ 10+ hours of my writing and publishing expertise on your biggest priorities

✔ Video walk-through of deliverables

✔ 14 days of follow-up support

Cost per booking:
$1,500 (NZD)

50% required at time of booking.
50% at the end of the booked day.

Is my
‘Done in a Day’ service
right for you?

This condensed, focused way of working isn’t suited to everyone or every project.

Some people (*cough, cough* me!) get a
rush from seeing their goals accomplished this quickly.

You’ll love working this way if

✔ You can’t afford to wait weeks or months to get this work into the world.

✔ You have a clear vision and just need help with specific tasks.

✔ You’ll be able to provide quick, decisive feedback on the day of your booking.

✔ You value experience and thoughtful storytelling as much as speed and efficiency.

✔ You don’t just want this work done, you want it done well, by an expert who will add value and enhance your great ideas.

It might not be right for you if

✖ Time isn’t a key factor for this particular project.

✖ You’d prefer to work at a slower pace with lots of iterations.

✖ You're shopping for the cheapest option. This is a premium service that delivers top-quality work at speed , and it’s priced accordingly.

✖ The task you have in mind requires weeks or even months of collaborative work.

✖ Multiple stakeholders need to sign off on the work being done. (See questions below for more info about this scenario.)

Got questions?

  • Absolutely not! The beauty of these intensive bookings is that I do all the work for you.

If I’m writing something for you, I'll let you know when that draft will be ready for you to review. Otherwise, you're free to spend your time however you like. Hit the gym, tackle other work priorities or binge a series on Netflix. You’re the VIP today.

Just remember, the faster you get back to me with comments or answers to any questions, the more I can get done.

  • $1,500 (New Zealand dollars). A deposit of 50% is required to secure a booking, and the balance of the fee is due on the date of the VIP day.

If you live in another country, you can click here to get an idea of how much that will be in your local currency.

  • Afraid not. However, life happens, so if you need to postpone your day for any reason, you can reschedule for another day and the deposit you’ve already paid will be applied to that new booking.

  • The honest answer is, that depends!
Several factors influence how much quality writing I can generate during one of these VIP intensives. These include

    ●     the complexity of the subject material.

    ●     whether you want me to do additional research.

    ●     how clear you can be about what you want to say and who you want to connect with.

    ●     whether I’m writing one long piece or several shorter pieces about different topics.

    ●     the level of detail and informatiom you’ve supplied in the pre-work form and during the strategy call.

    ● how quickly you are able to review the material and provide feedback on the big day.

As a rough guide, though, I've been able to generate between 2,000 and 3,000 engaging, well-crafted words during one of these days.

If you book a free discovery call with me and explain your needs, I'll be able to provide a more accurate estimate of what I can do for you.

  • If you aren't completely delighted by the end of your booked day, I'll ensure that any issues are addressed immediately so you walk away with exactly what you’d hoped for (or more!).

That said, the process behind these days is designed to ensure this scenario does not happen. Let's recap:

    1. We talk through your requirements during your free discovery call.

    2. You fill in a pre-work form and provide the information I need to do the best job possible.

    3. On our 1-hour strategy call, we discuss the brief and information you’ve supplied, go over your goals and plan the day.

    4. On the day, we communicate regularly and (where relevant) you review the writing being done to ensure I'm on track to nailing your brief.

Provided we follow all of these steps, any minor issues will be addressed well before the end of our day together.

  • Occasionally, yes.

    Other times, nope!

I usually like to give myself a head start on the ideating and drafting side of things because it benefits the deliverables - particularly if I'm writing something for you.

Either way, you’ll still get 10+ hours of my dedicated focus, knowledge and best work on your project.

  • 1.    It’s rare. Experienced ghostwriters and editors with strong portfolios of published writing tend to take on several big projects a year for a very select group of clients. By opening my books and offering these intensives, people outside the publishing industry and agency world can use my decades of international publishing and copywriting experience for their dream projects.

    2.    It's amazing value for money. Hiring an experienced professional to tackle a big content project costs tens of thousands of dollars. My VIP intensive offers a much more accessible price point for this premium service.

    3.    You can work on a big project at your own pace. This way of collaborating is beautifully bite-sized. Book me on an as-needed basis when you are ready to progress to the next phase of your project.

  • I have a bachelor's degree in English from Queen's University (Canada), and a post-graduate diploma in journalism from the London School of Journalism (UK).

My most valuable skills have been developed over decades spent working in media. First, at newspapers and magazines in London, and then for chef Jamie Oliver as the head of his editorial department.

After moving to Sydney, I joined Murdoch Books as an editorial manager. There, I managed a list of non-fiction books and collaborated with many of Australia's most well-known personalities and brilliant creatives.

For the past 8 years, my own writing and editing business has kept me booked (and often too busy).

I'm grateful to have strong relationships with so many clients who not only come back to me again and again, but also refer me to new clients.

  • Right here! I release a few months' worth of days at a time and these are booked on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Ever heard the expression 'too many cooks spoil the broth'? Well, it applies to writing, too.

To achieve as much as possible for you on the day of your booking, it’s best if I have a single point of contact briefing me, making decisions and giving the feedback.

When more people get involved, more time gets wasted and less gets done.

HOWEVER, if you’d like to refine the work produced on the day with your colleagues or other stakeholders after your booking, that works for me!

I’ll be happy to answer any questions or discuss their input during the 14-day support period following your booking.

  • Not at all! In fact, nearly all of my clients are outside of New Zealand. Often, this is a big bonus because I'm a whole day ahead of the Northern Hemisphere, which means I'm like a word elf, doing the work while you sleep.

We can discuss the logistics of time zones in a discovery call but in the meantime . . .

If you're in Australia, this won't affect timings at all. I'll simply work to your local time.

If you're in another Southern Hemisphere country, we'll focus on the hours that suit you best.

If you're in a Northern Hemisphere country such as the US or the UK, I'll split the intensive over two half-days so you have plenty of time to review and provide feedback during local working hours.

We can also work asynchronously via Loom videos and voice notes. This is quick, efficient and has worked really well for my clients so far. We can explore that option, too.

  • Absolutely. This is something we can explore on a discovery call.
